6/8/2018

On June 1, 2018, at the premises of the hotel "Porta" in Skopje, a public debate was organized on topic: Is there a favorable climate for the development of women entrepreneurship? Women entrepreneurs were invited and attended the debate. The public debate is part of the activities of the project "Enhancing contribution and efficiency of Women’s Entrepreneurship CSOs related to the EU Integration Reforms in the area of Economic Policy WE – CONTRIBUTE”.The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Foundation for Management and Industrial Research in partnership with the Association of Business Women and the GTF Initiative for Sustainable Growth from Croatia. The implementation of the project started in December last year and will last until December 2018.

The holding of the public hearing was the occasion for many of the present female entrepreneurs to express their views on the topic as well as to discuss how this climate for female entrepreneurship affects the work of women entrepreneurs and how it can be improved. Some views were also expressed that highlighted the problems and obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs in Macedonia at the moment and how they can be overcome.
The conclusions reached are summarized in three points: the climate for female entrepreneurship in Macedonia has improved in the last few years, more programs and measures that enable finances to support female entrepreneurship are necessary and there is a need for increased participation in the creation and adoption of measures and programs by women entrepreneurs.

The project initiates activities that will support women entrepreneurship in Macedonia and will work directly with women entrepreneurs in the following activities. One of the activists that was realized is the establishment of the first national council for women entrepreneurship, whose basic idea is the importance of networking in order to create a synergy of quality and influence of strong representation of the interests of women entrepreneurs in front of the stakeholders of the legislative and executive power . The Council aims to promote examples of good practices in order to ensure better coordination of activities related to women entrepreneurship issues and to enable networking of women entrepreneurs on a national and international level.
